I’m surprised we don’t have him already, but Audie Murphy (June 20, 1924 – May 28, 1971) was the most decorated American soldier in WW2, who later became a celebrated movie star. He was rejected from joining the Navy, Marines and Paratroopers for being too short and underweight, before he finally managed to join the United States Army.
